Lunar New Year

Vancouver, Canada 2025

This event is always a highlight, bringing out the energy, culture, and deep-rooted traditions that make Chinese New Year celebrations so special. The streets were alive with dragon and lion dances, martial artists, community groups, and families all bundled up against the winter chill. Unfortunately, I missed the first half when it was snowing—would’ve been a dream to shoot—but I’m still happy with these moments.

There’s something about Lunar New Year that always reminds me why I do what I do. It’s not just about the performances or the firecrackers—it’s about people. The ones who wake up early to set up, the elders standing in the cold waving their flags, the kids in oversized kung fu uniforms, the friends and families showing up year after year. The Chinatown community in Vancouver showed up strong for this Chinese New Year, even with the slush and cold, proving again why this parade is one of the most vibrant in the city.
